Contractions: The Politics of Midwifery

Inga & Rodante

Contractions is a monthly podcast about the politics of midwifery wherein midwives labour through political ideas, contract utopic visions into our ears and where every pain brings us closer to better birth. All contractions are performed by midwives and address the analysis and practical change of political issues, such as obstetric violence, workload, sexism and racism. Every contraction is necessary to bring a world closer wherein we can give birth more freely, equally and emotionally and physically safe. Our aim is to start an international dialogue with midwives globally, to recognise our issues as ‘shared issues’ and to learn from each others visions, critiques and practices. Contractions is produced by Inga Maria Thorsteinson, Rodante van der Waal and Vinny Taylor. Contact:
